Tsumami Zaiku Workshop: Saturday 6 May
3pm - 4pm*

Tsumami Zaiku is a traditional Japanese craft that originated in 18th century Edo-Japan. Exquisite flowers, pine leaves and cranes are made from little squares of chirimen (Japanese crepe) and kimono silk, and transformed into kanzashi (hair ornaments) worn by maiko. In this one hour hands-on workshop, Kumi-san will teach you how to make a tsumami zaiku flower or two which you can take home. All materials will be provided. 

Cost: $40 per person, including one drink & petit four

Wagashi Workshop: Saturday 20 May
3pm - 4pm*

Wagashi are traditional Japanese sweets consumed with matcha as part of the Japanese tea ceremony, sadoū 「茶道」. Made from rice flour and an anko (sweet bean) filling, the wagashi are delicately shaped by hand and reflect the flowers and cultural symbols of each season. In this one-hour hands on workshop, Yayoi-san will teach you how to make two namagashi which you can take home. All materials will be provided.

Cost: $50 per person, including ceremonial matcha

ikebana

Ikebana Workshop: Saturday 27 May
3pm - 4pm

Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement, and in this workshop, we are honoured to have Dr. Shoso Shimbo, the ikebana artist behind our floral displays take you through the Sogetsu school of ikebana. Shoso-san has over 20 years experience in ikebana and studied under the late Sogetsu Headmaster, Hiroshi Teshigahara. In this one-hour workshop, you will learn how to put together an ikebana arrangement which you can take home. All materials will be provided.

Cost: $50 per person, including one drink & petit four

Terms & Conditions: Credit card details or pre-payment via cash or bank transfer is required to secure your booking. Cancellations within 48 hours will incur the full cost of the workshop, including an additional 2.5% surcharge to cover credit card fees. In the event that a workshop is cancelled, the full refund will be issued.
