chotto「ちょっと」:
a moment, a short time, briefly

chotto is a small Japanese cafe with hopes to become a restaurant, Kinome, this year.

We serve traditional Japanese breakfasts including sakana gozen, tamago kake gohan and chirashi sushi - in homage to Tsukiji and the fish markets of Japan, and featuring the freshest fish flown in to us from Mark Eather.

At chotto, our fresh wasabi is grated to order, dashi cooked from scratch, and fish and meat grilled over the slow embers of binchotan (Japanese charcoal).

We use the best seaweed, katsuobushi (bonito) and soy - the foundations of Japanese cuisine - to bring across genuine Japanese flavours.

Our Japanese teas are sourced from Kyoto, ceremonial-grade matcha from Uji, and our matcha and houjicha latte powders are from a third generation tea company in Japan.

Everything is impermanent, imperfect and incomplete.
— Sen no Rikyu

We are currently undergoing a transitional phase, as we apply for a liquor license and explore opening for dinners instead of breakfast.

Our future still remains uncertain, as a great leap forward is required to take chotto further. Read more about our mirai (future) here.

We look forward to welcoming you!
